Managing your treatment.

Your annual exam.

A yearly Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) exam for your bleeding disorder is a great way to make sure you get the best care possible. Visit your doctor each year to get an updated prescription for factor and any other medications you may need. If you have a hard time keeping track of your appointments and you’re a CVS Specialty patient, our Hemophilia CareTeam can help. Call them at 1-866-RxCare-1 (1-866-792-2731), anytime or log in to send a secure message.

Prepare in advance.

Before your appointment, be prepared with your infusion log and write down any questions you may have. This will help you get the most out of your visit. What can you expect at your yearly visit? Your HTC team will do a thorough exam during your visit and check for:

Bleeding episodes.

Your infusion log will be useful to discuss bleeding episodes with your HTC team. They will look for possible target bleed areas (i.e., joints or muscles that experience frequent repeat bleeds).

Don’t forget: schedule your yearly appointment with your Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC).

Damage to joints and muscles.

Your physical therapist will test your muscle function, tightness, and strength. If a target bleed area is found, your physical therapist may suggest an exercise program to help prevent any more damage to joints and muscles.

Psychosocial concerns.

Your social worker, other HTC team members and your CVS Specialty Hemophilia CareTeam can help you with the challenges of living with a bleeding disorder, including insurance or financial concerns and school or child care-related issues.

New prescriptions.

Your doctor may change your factor medication dosing based on your current weight. You may need other changes in your treatment plan based on your visit. Your HTC doctor or nurse will review this with you and your home care clinical team.
