Getting help to manage your medication costs

Specialty medications often require special handling (like refrigeration), ongoing care and support. Because of this, insurance plans may place them on higher “tiers” that can lead to higher copays, coinsurance or deductibles. The good news is that there are many resources to help with these costs. If you qualify, our specialists can help connect you to third-party financial assistance programs.

Types of financial assistance

After your insurance plan processes a claim, you may qualify for third-party financial assistance programs that can help lower your out-of-pocket costs. You can apply for these programs without paying a fee. The amount you save will depend on a few factors. These include the medication you’re prescribed, your plan benefits and the third-party financial assistance program’s eligibility criteria and terms and conditions. Once you’re enrolled, any savings will be applied automatically.

Here are some programs our specialists may connect you with:

  • Manufacturer copay assistance: Savings programs offered by specialty drug manufacturers to help lower out-of-pocket costs for eligible patients
  • Patient assistance programs: Financial support programs sponsored by drug manufacturers for eligible patients
  • Foundations and grants: Non-profit foundations — like Patient Advocate Foundation and HealthWell Foundation — offer grants that provide financial help to eligible patients

We may also connect you with other third-party resources outside of copay assistance, including:
